Mr. Sanford, unlikely president?

There has been some talk in conservative circles that Mark Sanford could be a potential candidate for the Republican nominee for president in 2012. But from what I have read from commentators and political talking heads such a campaign would be weak and not very likely. I don’t know why. The more I learn about Sanford the more I am convinced that he was the candidate I was looking for in 2008 and would like to see in 2012. While of course the election is too far off for anything serious to be happening now, I hope that Sanford would be a serious consideration for conservatives and Republicans who have done some soul searching in the wilderness and have regained their philosophical wits regarding liberty and limited government at home and abroad.

For those unfamiliar with Sanford there is a great write-up over at The American Conservative.com, take a look here.
